The Sacramento Business Journal by Kathy Robertson –
August 19, 2013:
With the Oct. 1 enrollment kick-off looming, Covered California will make a slew of decisions at a board meeting in Sacramento on Thursday including six sets of regulations, terms for handing Medi-Cal calls and provisions for the model health plan contract.
The board will meet in the East End Auditorium at 1500 Capitol Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The open session is expected to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Discussion items in the executive director’s report include a planning overview and updates on the consumer website, service centers, outreach and training, the Navigator Program, legislation and federal rules.
The six groups of regulations up for approval relate to standard plan design, the small employer health options program — better known as SHOP, agents and brokers, plan-based enrollment, the Assisters Program and eligibility and enrollment.
The board also will adopt terms with counties and local consortia over “quick sort” of Medi-Cal calls and make final decisions on the model health plan contract.
Also on the agenda, for discussion only, is the 2014-2015 plan contracting schedule and an update on premium payment policies.
Materials will be posted on the exchange website HealthExchange.ca.gov before the meeting. A live webcast of the meeting can be viewed at CalSpan.
