August 1, 2013:
As more Southern California employers are shifting their workforce to non-traditional working hours, this causes an inconvenience to employees who seek services during normal hours, especially those employees with a second job. MediExcel Health Plan is aware of these dynamics and has implemented a measure to improve accessibility for healthcare. Starting September 1, MediExcel Health Plan will provide its Members access for routine doctor office visits on a 24 hours a day, seven days a week basis.
“Despite incredible advances in medicine in recent years, healthcare accessibility for consumers continues to lag,” says Dr. Jose Hernandez, CEO of MediExcel Health Plan. “Our new protocol allows members to see a primary care doctor for routine medical matters in our facility at any time of the day or night.”
“MediExcel Health Plan’s innovative approach to increase office hours raises the service bar for the region’s health care organizations,” said Jerry Sanders, President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. During a recent visit to the Excel Medical Center in Tijuana, Baja California, Sanders added, “I am impressed with MediExcel Health Plan’s capabilities for delivering quality and affordable cross-border healthcare coverage to San Diego employers.”
“In essence, MediExcel is throwing away the Office Closed sign,” says Bill Hammett, former President of the San Diego Association of Health Underwriters. Hammett adds, “This creates the ultimate accessibility in healthcare to serve members.”
“We are able to provide this new service capability thanks to the high quality medical providers in Baja California,” said Dr. Hernandez. “By receiving quality healthcare at any time, California employers will have healthier employees and families.”
